Hagen, who last year got engaged to her boyfriend Bendik Skinningsrud, now confirms to Se og Hør that the relationship is over.
– We realize that we are in two different phases in life. I want a quiet existence, while Bendik likes more parties and fun which is natural, says Hagen (66) to the magazine.
He says that the two have both had and have a very good time together, and will still be together as good friends.
Hagen is one of Norway’s richest men, according to Capital, with an estimated fortune of over NOK 33 billion in 2022. Skinningsrud is a doctor and studied medicine in Krakow, Poland.
From Hagen, Skinningsrud was nicknamed “the doctor” when VG interviewed him about the engagement last autumn.
Was proposed to
It was in October last year that Hagen said that Skinningsrud had proposed to him, “completely surprising”, but that he was very moved. Only a couple of months earlier, he had opened up about the relationship to the public – even though the two had already lived together for two years.
The age difference of 39 years “has nothing to do with anyone”, said Hagen.
The family was delighted with the news of the engagement.
– So we are a happy big family, Hagen said then. However, no wedding was planned yet.
Has been open about own orientation
Hagen, who is a high-profile businessman, has also been open about his own private life several times over the years. In 2015, he came out as gay on the TV program “Skavlan” on NRK.
In a major interview with VG shortly afterwards, Hagen explained that he has felt attracted to men since he was in his 20s, but that he chose a “conformist” life with a “wife, child, dog and Volvo”.
However, he was open with his own family and among friends long before he chose to open up in public.
Hagen has four children and has previously been married twice, most recently to Mille-Marie Treschow, from whom he was separated in 2012. Treschow died in 2018, aged just 64.
