– The incident is serious, says police attorney Gunn Bodil Strømseng in the Troms police district.
On Monday, the Norwegian Army confirms that all those involved are employees of the Norwegian Armed Forces.
Two people in their 20s were taken by ambulance to the emergency room in Narvik after being hit by a car inside the military area.
The incident happened in Setermoen camp in Indre Troms just before 10.30pm on Friday evening. The two, a man and a woman, were slightly injured.
– Both were discharged from Narvik hospital on Saturday and returned to Setermoen. All those involved in the incident are employees of the Army, and next of kin have been notified, says the Army’s communications manager, Lieutenant Colonel Lars Strøm.
Driver’s license confiscated
The police have secured a blood sample from the driver, who is suspected of having been under the influence. A breathalyzer test shortly after the accident gave results.
– We have not received the results of the blood test, it normally takes one to two weeks. But we suspect driving under the influence of drugs, also because of information we have received during questioning and at the scene, says Strømseng in the police.
The driver has been charged, and the driver’s license has been confiscated. The police are investigating the incident.
