Norway will not allow cars with Russian license plates into the country

From October 3, Norway will ban Russian-registered cars from entering its territory.

According to the Norwegian “TV 2” channel, citing the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ban will not affect cars with ten or more seats.

Thus, it will still be possible to cross the Norwegian border with vans and buses. There will also be exceptions for those traveling to Norway for treatment of a serious illness or for a funeral.

According to information obtained by SIA, the Norwegian authorities announced the implementation of the ban on September 20, but did not specify a specific date.

…Norway, like Finland, will impose restrictions on the import and use of cars with Russian registration. We are now learning how to do this and will be back with concrete measures soon.

It should be noted that this was stated by Norwegian State Secretary Eivind Vad Petersson.

It should be recalled that a day ago, Finland implemented round-the-clock control on the border with Norway to prevent the entry of cars with Russian license plates into the country.

Let’s remember that even though Helsinki banned the entry of Russian cars on September 16, cars from Russia could still enter Finland through Norway, which allowed them.

By the way, before that, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania banned the entry of cars with Russian license plates into the country.

Let’s also remind that Vilnius has made exceptions for cars going to or from Kaliningrad.

… Along with Finland, Poland joined the ban on October 16.
