“Like Finland, Norway will also impose restrictions on the import and use of cars with Russian registration numbers in the country. We are currently investigating how this will be done and will announce effective measures in the near future,” said Eivind Vad Peterson, State Secretary of Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland and Finland have already banned the entry of cars with Russian license plates. Vilnius has set an exception for cars driving to or from the Königsberg (Karalyuči) exclave.
On September 8, the European Commission published explanations on the import and import of goods from Russia. They state that the importation of personal cars and personal belongings is prohibited. Later, the European Commission announced that this list was advisory in nature and EU countries had to decide individually whether to impose bans.
