Norway maintains the lead in the Beijing Olympic medals table

Norwegian athletes have already won 21 medals at the Beijing Olympics – nine gold, five silver and seven bronze.

Germany is in second place with eight gold medals, five silver and two bronze awards. On Monday, the men’s team won the bronze medal in the ski jumping competition for Germany.

With 16 medals – seven gold, six silver and three bronze awards – the third place in the table of medals at the Beijing Olympic Games is in the USA. On Monday, Keilie Humphreys became the first Olympic champion in women’s monobobic competition, and Elan Mayer-Taylor won the silver medal. The bronze prize in ice dancing went to the US duo Medison Habella / Zakary Donahue, as well as the bronze medal in the discipline of freestyle skier Megan Nick in ski acrobatics.

The Netherlands has six gold, four silver and two bronze awards.

Austria, Sweden and China are among the five gold medals, while the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) team with 18 awards is the second most medal-rich delegation in Beijing, although there are only four gold medals for ROC athletes.

In total, 21 teams have at least one gold medal, but 26 representatives of delegations have at least one medal, including Latvia, which shares 24th place with Belgium and Poland.

Four sets of medals were handed out at the Beijing Olympics on Monday, and nine sets of medals will be handed out on Tuesday.

The Beijing Olympics take place from February 4 to 20.

After the Olympic Games, the Paralympic Games will take place in Beijing from March 4 to 13.
