Toyota has had a great year in Norway so far in 2021. They are Norway’s largest car brand after the first six months of the year, at the same time as their RAV4 is the second best-selling car model, only beaten by the Tesla Model 3.
Now comes a new model that may contribute well to sales for the rest of the year. Toyota has just opened for reservations for the new Yaris Cross. Here, Norway is one of the first countries in Europe.
As the Yaris name suggests, we are in the small car class, the Cross is a compact crossover. But the length is stretched a good deal compared to the Yaris, up to 4.18 meters. It is also a good deal taller. The luggage compartment volume is 314 liters.
An important selling point will certainly be that the car comes with a 4×4. Toyota has previously estimated that around 70 percent of customers will choose this.

Extra ground clearance
AWD-i Toyota calls this 4×4 system which automatically shifts from front-wheel drive to four-wheel drive, depending on road conditions. The system also has a manual mode selector with Trail or Snow settings, so the driver can select the mode that is best suited to demanding road and driving conditions. Whether it is wet and difficult small roads – or snowy winter roads.
A little extra ground clearance is probably also popular in the target group, we assume it mainly consists of well-adults.

Maximum flexibility
Yaris Cross will have a number of smart solutions. The motorized rear door can be operated with the foot and the luggage compartment floor can be adjusted in two heights or divided in two to provide a safe storage space under the floor or increased luggage capacity if required.
The rear seat is divided 40:20:40 to provide the greatest possible flexibility and the opportunity to transport skis, bicycles or holiday luggage, and thanks to its own lashing hooks, it is easy to secure the load properly.

Just over 300,000 kroner
In Norway, Toyota offers six different equipment versions: Life, Active, Active Tech, Executive, Adventure and Premiere Edition. The latter is produced only the first 12 months.
Prices start at 303,900 kroner, then for equipment level Life, with two-wheel drive. You get a 4×4 from 333,800 kroner. The top model is the Premier Edition with four-wheel drive. It comes with a solid equipment package inside and costs 426,900 kroner.
The first customers are scheduled to get a car in October.
