This means that people with a valid corona passport from England and Wales will be able to travel freely to Norway, according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
– It is very positive that we get this solution in place for everyone with family, friends and girlfriends in England and Wales who have these corona certificates and who now have the opportunity to travel to Norway, writes Foreign Minister Ine Eriksen Søreide (H) to VG.
The English Corona Pass (NHS Covid Pass) is valid for England and Wales. Scotland and Northern Ireland have other solutions.
Travelers with an English corona passport will be released from the entry quarantine, entry registration and covid test, both before the trip and at the border.
The EU’s corona passport solution, in which Norway participates, has already made it possible to travel freely within the union’s borders with a valid EU passport.
The British government has also opened up for travelers with a European corona passport to be quarantined when entering the UK.
According to the Norwegian Directorate of Health, Norway is among the first European countries to open for the English corona certificate. Greece and Spain also accept the English passport, according to BBC.
The date for when the new rules will enter into force has not yet been set, but the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms that it will take place “during the next week”.
The exception is people who have taken the Novavax vaccine, which is used in clinical trials in the UK, but who is not currently EMA-approved. People who have received the Novavax vaccine are thus exempt from the new rules.
