Norway condemns Russia’s attack on the port in the Ukrainian city of Odesa on Saturday, writes the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement Sunday.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs writes that there is an “urgent need” for the terms of the agreement to be respected by Russia.

It happens on the same day that Zakharova confirms the attack on her Telegram channel.

Attack the day after grain agreement

Ukrainian authorities have stated that the missile attack hit the commercial port of the important port city in southern Ukraine.

Zakharova, for her part, claims that the Russian missiles hit – and destroyed – a Ukrainian military vessel.

The reports of the attack came the day after Ukraine and Russia signed an agreement on the export of grain on Friday.

Reuters reports on Saturday afternoon that Russia has told the Turkish authorities that it had nothing to do with the attack on the port.

Turkey has helped negotiate the agreement on grain exports. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called the agreement “a beacon of hope.”

The agreement involves, among other things, the resumption of grain exports from three Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea, so that 22 million tonnes of Ukrainian grain can be sent out into the world.

Odesa is one of the three ports that were included in the grain agreement.

The war in Ukraine has been called a war in the world’s food bowl. The country exports around ten percent of the world’s wheat, and fifty percent of the world’s sunflower oil.

The UN has warned that the war could lead to a global food crisis that could last for years.

Oleg Nikolenko, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, accused Moscow of “undermining its commitments” to the grain deal.

– The Russian attack is a spit in the face of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Turkish President Recep Erdogan from Vladimir Putin, Nikolenko said after the attack, according to BBC.

An adviser at the Ukrainian presidential office says, according to Reuters, that the country can earn 10 billion dollars from selling the grain.
