Norway: 21 years in prison for perpetrator of mosque attack

He had tried to kill “as many Muslims as possible“last summer” in a mosque near Oslo. Philip Manshaus was sentenced on Thursday to a 21-year prison sentence which can be extended indefinitely, since life does not exist in Norway.

Claiming to be from the neo-Nazi movement, the 22-year-old man was found guilty of “homicide” and of “attempted terrorist act“. He expressed no remorse and remained unmoved during the verdict.

The accused stated that his intention was to kill as many Muslims as possible in the mosque and that he was disappointed that he had not succeeded in killing any of the people in it

Dressed in a bulletproof vest and a helmet fitted with a camera, Philip Manshaus had been able to be disarmed in time. But before going to the mosque, he had been able to commit a first racist crime by killing his half-sister of Chinese origin.
