– We are operating according to a cost-cutting plan now. We will save several hundred million kroner this year, so it is clear that it will be very tough, says CEO of Nortura, Anne Marit Panengstuen, to Dagbladet’s Stock Exchange.
The company decided in September to close the chicken slaughterhouse in Elverum and move the activity to Røra and Hærland. The change affected approximately 130 employees. Now the “external sales” department is also to be wound up. It will affect around 40 employees.
According to the newspaper, Panengstuen does not rule out further cutbacks.
– How many may lose their jobs, if any, remains to be seen. It is a bit early to say.
The reason for the cutbacks is increased prices linked to energy, transport and raw materials.
