Northern Ontario: 25 new infections; more people eligible for vaccination

Northern Ontario public health units are reporting 25 new COVID-19 infections, as the Porcupine Health Unit expands vaccination to all adults in the region.

The Northwestern Public Health Unit has identified seven new infections, the highest number of new infections in the region.

All adults in Porcupine eligible for vaccination

The Porcupine Health Unit announced Tuesday that all adults 18 and older can book into the provincial system to get a first dose of the vaccine.

The Porcupine region is currently the most affected region in northern Ontario by COVID-19, as its public health unit lists 142 active cases of COVID-19.

The public health unit reports having injected 36,007 doses of the vaccine.

The rest of Ontario has yet to open its vaccination to all adults, Tuesday the government opened vaccination to adults aged 40 and older.
