Everyone dreams of eating good and local (and also cheaper, but that’s another debate). In northern Moselle, an investment could encourage this mode of consumption: the creation of a food hub, including a slaughterhouse and a meat processing line so that it can then be sold in a short circuit.
This project has been in the pipeline for more than ten years, many of you support it: almost 3,700 exactly, the number of signatures affixed to the bottom of a petition that has been circulating in the north of the department for three weeks and also on the internet .
“We have been present twice at the Thionville market and we will be there again next Saturday. But it was especially at the Agrimax show in Metz that we were particularly busy,” summarizes Isabelle Cornette, on behalf of the shareholders of the cooperative company. With the passion she is known for, the woman who is also elected to Volstroff and involved in associations took the bull by the horns and Norbert Handrick by the arm to defend local steak and plead the cause of the slaughterhouse to the banks.
A fateful date
At Agrimax, “we went to meet the BPLC which was part of the consortium of banks which withdrew without explanation last June. The person we met listened attentively,” continues Isabelle Cornette. An appointment must be made with the president of the cooperative.
