Hamburg (dpa / lno) – Northern Germany’s employer president Philipp Murmann will remain in office for another four years. A general meeting re-elected the 59-year-old in Hamburg to head the business association UVNord, as the association announced on Wednesday. The former CDU member of the Bundestag and head of the Kieler Zöllner GmbH thus continues to represent the interests of 114 member associations as President of the economic and socio-political umbrella organization of the north German economy, which in turn represent more than 100,000 companies with around 1.8 million employees in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein belong.
In his inaugural speech, he reportedly criticized the traffic light coalition in Berlin and Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD). “Unfortunately, the defense technology industry in the north is still waiting in vain for the implementation of the 100 billion package for the Bundeswehr,” said Murmann, according to a statement. He was also concerned about the development of the Port of Hamburg, which was falling further and further behind. “We need steam in the boiler with the port development plan and we have to tackle the transport infrastructure in the port more quickly than before.” This applies in particular to the replacement of the Köhlbrand Bridge.
