Very high temperatures and high humidity in the air were the perfect combination for the formation of severe bad weather in several regions of Argentina in the last few hours. The most intense activity was concentrated in the north of the country.
Very violent thunderstorms caused heavy rains in just a few minutes on towns like Río Tercero and Corrientes, where the streets have been transformed into real rivers. Some cars even ended up partly submerged.
Beyond the large quantities of water that have fallen in a few hours, electrical storms accompanied by hailstorms affected some towns. In El Rodeo, hail formed a white blanket on the ground.
Strong gusts of wind caused blackouts in some cities. The electric cables were damaged causing short circuits, as shown by the register made in La Rioja. In the coming days, the intensity of bad weather in northern Argentina is expected to decrease, althougha new system will cross the country during the weekend, again generating severe bad weather in much of central and northern Argentina.
