The corona incidence numbers are falling, in many places the easing of the state government’s step-by-step plan comes into force. The result: Less tests are carried out for the corona virus.
In the region of northeast Lower Saxony, the first corona test centers are now closing, as a survey by the NDR in Lower Saxony has shown. In the districts of Uelzen and Lüchow-Dannenberg, three offices are no longer open. The district of Verden will probably follow suit with some centers in the coming week, as a spokesman said. Another reason for the lower utilization is that more and more citizens in Lower Saxony are vaccinated and the test is no longer compulsory – even if the incidences are rising again.
Demand in the Lüneburg district fell by 70 percent
The district of Lüneburg has not yet closed any test centers, but has also recorded a decline. In the past few days, demand has plummeted by 70 percent, said a spokesman for the German Red Cross (DRK). In the districts of Heidekreis, Harburg and Stade, one observes the situation and expects the test numbers to collapse here as well.
