North Sumatra Regional Police (North Sumatra) will deploy 12 patrol cars to assist the Mayor Medan Bobby Nasution punish the perpetrators robber which is growing in the city.

All 12 units of patrol cars equipped with rifles used to crack down on thieves are strictly measured according to the SOP.

North Sumatra Regional Police Chief, Inspector General of Police Agung Setya Imam Effendi, inaugurated the launch of 12 pioneer patrol cars double cabin which is equipped with a number of advanced features at the event attended by Bobby Nasution at the North Sumatra Police Hall, Monday.

Each unit will patrol 24 hours by loading four personnel who will serve two shifts. The car is equipped with a Hi-Res camera, internet network, connection to four satellites, to artificial intelligence technology or artificial intelligent (AI).

Not only that, various weapons up to the long barrel were prepared at the back of the car.

“Of course we are ready soft power nor hard power. Inside the car, weapons are prepared to be used if necessary, especially against crimes that threaten the safety of the public and personnel. We will take firm, measurable actions according to the required SOPs,” Agung said.

Agung said that the patrol car unit would arrive within 10-12 minutes to the location of complaints from residents who contacted via line 110.

“In the future we will speed things up again because time is of the essence. We are ready to make Medan safe and comfortable,” continued Agung.

Meanwhile, Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution stated that he was ready to support the police with the necessary data. Because, one of the sophistication of the patrol car is a direct connection to the civil registry to find out the identity of the perpetrators of crimes.

“The municipal government will support what is needed in this vehicle. In fact, not just vehicles but tools that can reduce crime in Medan, we are ready. Technology, digitalization to CCTV in Medan can be used by personnel, our CCTV can also record, the license plate you want to search for, for example, our CCTV can also help with data. The license plate of a vehicle suspected of committing a crime can be tracked, directed to the path so that it is connected to this patrol car,” said Bobby.

The people of Medan and its surroundings are very worried about the sadistic act of robbers who have the heart to kill their victims. Responding to the public’s unrest, Bobby asked the police to act decisively.

Bobby even said that thieves could be shot dead to create a deterrent effect.
