North Sumatra Provincial Government Never Shares Covid Data

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Mayor of Medan, Bobby Nasution mention handling data Covid-19 in Medan is still chaotic because of poor coordination carried out by the North Sumatra Provincial Government. The poor coordination, said Bobby, forced the Medan City Government to re-collect data manually.

“So far, we admit that we have data that we have not input. The problem is that the data on new positive cases of Covid-19 carried out in a number of hospitals or non-government public clinics are directly inputted to the provincial data center, so we are having trouble,” said Bobby, Saturday (11/9).

According to Bobby, the Medan City Government has asked the North Sumatra Provincial Government for the data. However, the North Sumatra Provincial Government has never shared data on the addition of new positive cases obtained from input from a number of private hospitals and clinics. When asked through the Medan Health Office, he said, so far he has not gotten good results.

“I don’t blame anyone. Try asking the governor again how they ever asked us for data collection problems. Maybe he understands better,” he explained.

As a result, Covid-19 data in the city of Medan cannot be reported to the Ministry. While continuing to improve, said Bobby, his party had to collect data again directly in the field. Bobby ordered each sub-district to collect data down to residents’ homes.

“Our data has been corrected, it has not been reported because we asked for data from the North Sumatran provincial government. If we use all record data, we can’t because it goes directly to the North Sumatra provincial government. That should be our data being shared too. That’s what we also need, so we are now come directly to the sub-district, the sub-district checks the residents’ houses one by one,” explained Bobby.

It is known that the Governor of North Sumatra, Edy Rahmayadi, was annoyed with four regions in North Sumatra because of the chaos in collecting data on handling Covid-19. The four regions are currently included in the Level 4 Community Activity Restriction Enforcement (PPKM) category.

“I was so tired last night that I talked about the data. We are four chaotic, four chaotic districts/cities, Medan, Sibolga, Madina and Siantar. This mess,” said Edy Rahmayadi, Friday (10/9).

Meanwhile, according to Edy, other regions still found discrepancies in data input. It’s just not as bad as the four areas.

“The others are chaotic, there are still disputes but the limit is still below so it doesn’t increase. If we do this properly, we are not like this, we are in good condition. If I double-check the data, “said Edy.

Even though data input is currently through a digital process, added Edy, it is not supported by qualified human resources who can input data correctly.
