North Sumatra Health Office urges residents to be aware of dengue during the rainy season

Medan (ANTARA) – The North Sumatra Provincial Health Office appealed to the public to be aware of the potential for dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF), especially during the rainy season, which is currently hitting some areas in the area.

Head of the North Sumatra Health Service, Ismail Lubis in Medan, Sunday (14/11), said that the spread of dengue fever usually spreads in densely populated areas, with poor drainage and in urban areas.

For this reason, the community must maintain a clean environment so that there is no possibility of stagnant water that can lead to Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae.

“During the rainy season like this, let’s clean our environment from mosquito larvae to avoid the potential for dengue fever,” he said

The North Sumatra Health Office has received reports regarding cases of dengue fever due to the rainy season that has occurred in recent days. However, the number of cases of dengue fever is not too significant.

Ismail asked people affected by dengue fever not to hesitate to report it to the Health Office.

“So that later we can do fogging so that dengue fever in one environment does not spread,” he said.

Ismail said that his party is currently more focused on handling COVID-19. However, he continued, other matters, such as dengue fever and the handling of pregnant women, must be prioritized.

“For example, for pregnant women, we ask the village midwife to visit the community regularly. So that if there are complaints, they can be handled quickly,” he said.
