Borussia Düsseldorf is in the semifinals of the Table Tennis Champions League. Düsseldorf also won their fourth group match against Bogoria Grodzisk Mazowiecki on Friday.
Borussia defeated the Polish side 3-1 at home and finished Group A as winners with four wins from four games. Bogoria Grodzisk are bottom of the table with four points.
Timo Boll put Düsseldorf ahead with a hard-fought but ultimately clear 3-0 win over Michal Gawlas. In the second singles match, Kamal Achanta initially pulled up a set from a 2-0 deficit against 16-year-old Milosz Redzimski, but then had to admit defeat 6-1 in the shortened deciding set.
Bull gets a crux
It was then cleared up by Kay Stumper, who defeated Jacek Mitas 3-0. Then it fell to Timo Boll to seal the win in Düsseldorf with a 3-1 victory over Redzimski.
Borussia now continue on Sunday (17:00) in the Bundesliga with an away match at TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau.
