L’Landes drilling treatment plant in Cignéwork on which has been underway for three years, will cover more than 10% of drinking water in North Mayenne and secure the water supply for all communities.
“Resource management forecasts are rather bleak. We can fear for the summer. In the current context, water will become precious. Last summer, we had alerts on the reserve and its limits of the lake of Haute-Mayenne. Climate change invites us to do more, observes Pierrick Tranchevent, president of the mixed syndicate for drinking water reinforcement in Nord-Mayenne. Pooling will complement the Saint-Fraimbault plant and diversify resources between surface water and quality underground resources. »
Good water quality
Water research began in 2007. The Landes site has exceptional productivity.
It represents 80 to 90% of the needs of the Ambrières-les-Vallées and Le Pas reservoir distribution areas. THE Specimens drilling in the Landes will result in a reduction, of at least the same volume, 1,000 m³/day on average, of withdrawals in surface water in Mayenne in Saint-Fraimbault-de-Prières or in the colmont to Gorron.
The water quality is good and requires simple treatments that will be carried out on site. They contain iron and manganese. A future treatment of pesticides that might appear is also planned. An injection of soda will also balance the PH.
A 500 m³ storage tank for treated water and a 100 m² settling lagoon for filter washing water were built. There zone humide, where there is a valley and two ponds, is preserved. Mayenne nature environment took part in its development. In the future, trees will be planted there. Environmental monitoring will be provided by MNE and the CPIE Mayenne Bas-Maine.
For transport to Ambrières, a 8.3 km pipeline was placed “only on the public domain”, assures Martial Tarlevé, vice-president.
Of the photovoltaic panels will be placed on the treatment building “to move towards a certain autonomy”.
The factory, entirely automatedwill be monitored remotely and will only require occasional trips to the field.
A 3 million euro project
The project is evaluated 3 million euros. “It’s not nothing for a small union like ours”, recognizes Pierrick Tranchevent.
Funding of €900,000 comes from the county council and €385,000 fromLoire Brittany Water Agency will be deducted. Veolia will operate the plant.
After a trial period of two or three months and theauthorization for distribution of the ARS“commissioning at the end of 2023/beginning of 2024 is envisaged”.
