North Maluku News: iPhone 15 Pro to Introduce Versatile Buttons

Jakarta – The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will reportedly launch with significant design changes. The latest rumor is that the iPhone 15 Pro will come with all-round buttons.

This rumor comes from a member of the MacRumors forum who previously leaked accurate information about Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro. In his post, the anonymous member said the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will have a customizable Action button.

The source says this Action button will replace the ring/silent button that has been present on all iPhone models since 2007. They don’t explain how this button works, but it may be as customizable as the Action button on the Apple Watch Ultra.

It is not yet known how Apple will implement this button on the iPhone 15 Pro. However, some functions that may be controlled by pressing the Action button include:

  • Ring/Silent
  • Do not disturb
  • Center
  • Low battery mode
  • Dark/light mode
  • Open control center
  • Open the camera
  • Take screenshots
  • Screen record
  • And much more

Most of these functions can already be controlled using Back Tap, an accessibility feature launched in iOS 14. This feature allows users to tap the Apple logo on the back to trigger certain actions, such as turning on the flashlight or taking a screenshot.

The Action button itself is available on the Apple Watch Ultra where users can set it to start a workout, open the stopwatch, turn on the flashlight, activate the backtrack, and so on.

MacRumors sources also say that the Action button can still function after the iPhone runs out of battery thanks to the new low-power chip embedded in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, as quoted detikINET, Saturday (1/4/2023).

In addition to the Action button, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will have singular volume buttons. Both of these buttons will use a solid-state design, which means the buttons won’t physically move but users will feel vibrations from haptic feedback.

However, it seems that this button design change will only be on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus variants will still use a mute button and two volume buttons.
