North Macedonian President Stevo Pendarovski Says He Has Not Had Constructive Talks With Bulgarian Counterpart in Two Years

North Macedonian President Stevo Pendarovski said on Tuesday that he has not been in contact with his Bulgarian counterpart for a long time Rumen Radev. In the last two years, the two have not had a single constructive conversationannounced the MKD.

They last met last year at the mini-meeting at the top for energy in Sofia.

It takes two to tango. Objectively, in the last two years, Bulgaria has shown a series of provocations towards us and put forward arguments for our blockade of the European Union (EU), which was unprecedented in the history of the Union. No country has blocked another country with the words “You are not who you think you are”. To talk about identity politics and shout that I am not Macedonian and that only if I change all the textbooks will I be able to progress towards Europe. We can fake dates but in the last two years in practice I don’t have a single constructive conversation with Radev”said Pendarovski.

Stevo Pendarovski: Sofia’s request is scandalous! The occupiers don’t do that either!

This is how he commented on the words of Nikolay Milkov

We remind you that last week he defined as scandalous the request of Sofia to participate in the process of constitutional changes of the country. Even the occupiers do not make such demands to the countries, territories or states they have occupied, Pendarovski said.

The occasion for his words was the statement from Brussels by our Foreign Minister Nikolay Milkov, who stated that yesterday he had a conversation with his Macedonian colleague Buyar Osmani in connection with the inclusion of Bulgarians in the Constitution of the RSM.

“Yesterday I spoke briefly with Minister Osmani. I hope they will respond. This dialogue must continue as long as there is a will on their part. Again we extend a hand, in this sense. We are ready to discuss the changes they are making,” he explained .

Then the Macedonian Foreign Ministry responded that the process of constitutional changes is an internal problem of the country, which as an obligation is related to the accession negotiations for EU membership.

Among them is the chief adviser of the President Stevo Pendarovski – Alexander Spasov

According to Pendarovski, the concept of majorities and minorities in the Republic of North Macedonia has been overcome, this debate ended with the Framework Agreement in 2001.

“And in former Yugoslavia we never used the term ‘national minorities’, but there were ‘nations’ and ‘nationalities’. Why? So as not to offend someone who lives here and is like a number less than the majority of people. I think this is an irrelevant debate and we should not waste time on it,” Pendarovski said.

Finally, earlier today the Ministry of Justice of North Macedonia announced the nominations for members of the working group, which should prepare proposals for changes to the country’s constitution.
