North Macedonia will allow Lavrov and his entourage to attend the OSCE meeting

The government of North Macedonia at a meeting on Friday allowed Russian aircraft to fly over its territory, which will transport a delegation to participate in the ministerial meeting of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

This, as “European Truth” writes, is evidenced by Press release government in Skopje.

The North Macedonian government’s decision allows the Ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs to “make additional decisions on the issuance of overflight and landing permits for Russian aircraft during the thirteenth ministerial meeting in Skopje between November 29 and December 1.”

“This addition is in accordance with the EU regulation and the provisions of the restrictive measures, which provide for exceptions to the restrictions in question for international conferences, such as the OSCE summit in Skopje,” the statement said.

Entry-barred Lavrov asks to attend the OSCE meeting in North Macedonia

According to media reports, the Russian delegation will include Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, “his doctor, technical staff, security,” 17 diplomats, including Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, and 24 journalists – only 85 people.

The head of the North Macedonian Foreign Ministry, Bujar Osmani, previously said that the participation of the Russian delegation in the OSCE ministerial meeting is in question because the airspace of his country and neighboring states is closed to Russian aircraft due to joining the European Union sanctions against the Russian Federation.

As you know, at last year’s OSCE ministerial meeting, which Poland hosted, Warsaw refused to let Lavrov into the country. The move angered Moscow, which called the refusal “unprecedented and provocative.”

Ukraine repeatedly called for Russia to be expelled from the OSCE. Last month, Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said Russia was now “killing” the organization, adding that he could “easily imagine” it without a Russian presence.
