North Lippe Hiking Week 2024 fully booked – hiking enthusiasts explore the north of Lippe

In addition to many hiking enthusiasts from the Lippe area, interested people from Rinteln, Bad Oeynhausen, Uelzen, Güstrow and even Austria came to this year’s North Lippe Hiking Week.

In the third year after its launch, the hiking event was fully booked with 35 participants per day. Under the motto “On historic hiking trails in the North Lippe mountains”, Lippe Tourismus & Marketing GmbH invited people from September 16th to 20th in collaboration with the four North Lippe municipalities of Extertal, Kalletal, Barntrup and Dörentrup. Next year the event will take place from September 15th to 19th. The program will be available from February 2025. Anyone interested can register now by email at j.wisomiersky@kreis-lippe.de.

On the first day, the sporty hike led mainly along the historic Cheruskerweg from the Bentorfer Erdfalls via the Lichtensberg to Bad Senkelteich. The hike then led over the Winterberg to Vlotho Castle and a stop at Vlotho. On the second day, the group hiked from Linderhofe to Schwelentrup to the Alt Sternberg ramparts, where they learned more about the history of the complex from a lecture. The motto of the route hike on Wednesday was “Stone Age in Lippe – The Barntrup-Sonneborn Quarry”. From Blomberg-Eschenbruch the hike went largely along the eastern loop of the Lippe Pilgrimage Route. The guests were treated to an interesting tour of the Sonneborn quarry.

On the penultimate day, regional association head Jörg Düning-Gast welcomed the hiking group at Brake Castle with a lecture about the Lippe regional association. We then went to Schwelentrup, where beekeeper Ute Müller gave insights into the life of bees. The last day of the North Lippe Hiking Week was a route hike from Linderhofe along historic paths to the Hohe Asch. On the way, the group stops at Gut Ullenhausen, where they received information about the monastery that was formerly located there. The final dinner with Extertal Mayor Frank Meier ended the hiking week at the Hohe Asch festival site.
