North Korea has supplied Russia with weapons for use in the war in Ukraine, the US White House reports.
The United States has long expected North Korea to supply weapons to Russia. Last month, talks took place between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to Washington, more than a thousand containers of weapons have now been delivered. White House spokesman John Kirby said he condemned North Korea’s shipments and that the US would continue to monitor whether more weapons were sent to Russia.
Last week, satellite images showed an “unprecedented number” of freight wagons about to cross the border between North Korea and Russia, according to research center Beyond Parallel. An anonymous source within the US government also told CBS news channel that deliveries had started.
Russia can put its weapons to good use in the war with Ukraine. The war appears to be turning into a war of attrition and Ukraine is receiving many weapons from Western allies.
