On Thursday (27) the United States Department of Defense released a new National Defense Strategy (NDS), in addition to mentioning China and Russia, the document states that if North Korea uses a nuclear weapon to attack the United States oi its allies, it will lead to the end of the North Korean regime.
The document states: “Any nuclear attack by North Korea against the United States or its allies is unacceptable and will lead to the end of the North Korean regime. Under no circumstances can the Kim regime survive the use of nuclear weapons.” claimed that the United States would pursue the North Korean regime’s responsibility to transfer nuclear weapons technology, materials or expertise to any state or non-state actor.
US Defense Secretary Austin stressed that the strategy paper clearly articulates the threat posed by North Korea and its evolving nuclear and missile capabilities. White House National Security Council spokesman Kirby again warned that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un could order a seventh nuclear test at any time. He reiterated that the US still wants to contact Pyongyang and is willing to dialogue with the DPRK without preconditions and that the DPRK has no reason to conduct another nuclear test. At the same time, North Korea has shown no willingness to negotiate, so the United States must ensure the ability to defend itself and protect its allies.
