Pyongyang –
North Korea (North Korea) held a massive military parade in Pyongyang on Thursday (27/7) evening. A number of new nuclear-capable missiles and combat drones were included in the arsenal on display in the latest military parade.
As reported ReutersFriday (28/7/2023), supreme leader of North Korea Kim Jong Un directly supervised the military parade, which was also witnessed by foreign delegations from Russia and China. Minister of Defense (Menhan) of Russia Sergei Shoigu direct the Russian delegation visiting Pyongyang.
Military parade it was a widely awaited moment to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of the Korean War, which is celebrated in North Korea as ‘Victory Day’.
Delegations from Moscow and Beijing became the first foreign visitors to North Korea since the Corona virus (COVID-19) pandemic raged.
The attendance of Russian and Chinese delegations at the event featuring North Korea’s nuclear missiles marked a stark contrast to previous years, when Moscow and Beijing took steps to distance themselves from Pyongyang’s development of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles.
Moreover, North Korea’s missiles were banned by the Security Council of the United Nations (UN) with the support of Russia and China as its members.
The missiles displayed in North Korea’s latest military parade, according to a KCNA report, include the Hwasong-17 and Hwasong-18 intercontinental ballistic missiles which are believed to have the range to strike targets anywhere in the continental United States.
The parade, KCNA said, also featured a number of North Korea’s newest combat drones and spy drones.
