KCNA reported yesterday that Kim made these statements at a meeting of the Central Military Commission, where plans to repel enemies were discussed. They are not named in the KCNA information.
North Korea’s chief of staff, General Park Su-il, is being replaced after seven months in office by General Lee Yong-gil, a former defense minister and commander of conventional forces.
KCNA reports that “preparation for hostilities” was discussed during the meeting, including “providing a much more powerful strike capability” in order to achieve “full military readiness for war”. During the meeting, Kim ordered “all munitions manufacturing companies to step up mass production of various weapons and military equipment.” He has also ordered to intensify military training to learn the effective use of the latest weapons and equipment supplied to the armed forces.
The US accuses North Korea of supplying Russia with weapons, which both countries deny. Recently, Kim personally introduced Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu to the latest weapons exhibition.
