Seoul: North Korean hackers try to disrupt U.S.-South Korea military drills

South Korean police said the new cyber attack may have been linked to a North Korean hacking group known as “Kimsuky,” which failed to obtain sensitive military information.
(Deutsche Welle Chinese website) South Korean police announced on Sunday that suspected North Korean hackers attempted to launch an attack on the large-scale US-South Korea military exercise that started this Monday. “Police investigations confirmed that the cyber attack was initiated by North Korean hackers,” the Gyeonggi Provincial Police Agency said in a statement, adding that military secrets had not been affected.

Who is behind the cyber attacks?
South Korean police said,The cyber attack was linked to a North Korean hacker group known as Kimsuky. Cyber attackers reportedly tried to gain access through emails sent to South Korean contractors working at the war simulation center for the South Korea-US joint exercise.
The hacker group Kimsuky is well known in the cybersecurity community for its “spear phishing” technique, which tricks victims into revealing their passwords, or tricking them into clicking malicious attachments or links.
