North Korea has stated that the US Navy’s strategic nuclear submarine, the Kentucky, made a call in Busan, meeting its “conditions for the use of nuclear weapons.”
North Korea’s Defense Minister Kang Sun-nam said the statement reminded the U.S. that the increased visibility of deploying strategic assets, including strategic nuclear submarines, may fall under the conditions for the use of nuclear weapons as stipulated in the State Nuclear Forces Policy Act.
“The use of military force against them would be the most disastrous option for the United States and the Republic of Korea,” he said, stressing that the U.S. military must realize that its strategic assets have entered dangerous waters.
North Korea previously launched a surprise launch of two short-range ballistic missiles into the East Sea early yesterday (19th), the second day after the Kentucky ship’s call.
