North Korea strongly criticized the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for its report stating that there was no problem with the safety of Japan’s plan to discharge contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant.

On the 9th, North Korea criticized the IAEA report in a statement in the name of the director of the External Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Environmental Protection, saying that it was “actively defending and promoting a nuclear-contaminated water discharge plan that is terrifying to even imagine.”

On the 4th, the IAEA delivered a comprehensive report to the Japanese government stating that if the discharge of contaminated water was carried out according to the plan set by TEPCO, the radioactive effect on the human body and the environment was negligible and that it met international safety standards. .

North Korea pointed out that “Japan is using the IAEA’s announcement of this comprehensive assessment report as a legitimate justification and intends to discharge as much as 1.3 million tons of nuclear-contaminated water into the Pacific Ocean from this summer.”

“If a large amount of nuclear contaminated water flows into the Pacific Ocean, radioisotope materials will spread to half of the Pacific Ocean within 57 days and to the entire world after 10 years,” he said. “This requires tritium and a half-life of 5,000 years. It contains radioactive substances such as carbon-14, which is bound to have fatal adverse effects on human life safety and the ecological environment, such as malignant tumors.”

North Korea said, “There is no provision or phrase in any international law that the IAEA can be allowed to discharge nuclear-contaminated water.” Despite expressing opposition and concern, doubts are only growing as to why the IAEA is so zealous about Japan’s release of nuclear-contaminated water, which no one has authorized.”

Towards Japan, he said, “Even after forcing indescribable misfortune and suffering on Asian countries in the past century, instead of apology and compensation, they are resolutely denying and glorifying the bloody past.” They are trying to cause irreversible harm to mankind for generations.”

They also attacked South Korea and the United States, saying, “The United States and South Korea openly express their welcome to Japan’s plan to release nuclear-contaminated water, which deserves to be cursed and criticized, and is arousing great resentment from all people.”
