North Korea, South Korean army responsible for launching drones

(ANSA) – BEIJING, OCTOBER 28 – North Korea said that its analysis of the flight log of a drone that crashed in Pyongyang in early October showed that the take-off took place from a South Korean border island in the Sea Yellow, insisting that Seoul’s army is truly responsible for the raids on its capital. Previously, the hermit state said the South’s drones were carrying anti-Kim leaflets and had been detected three times this month, threatening to respond with force if such flights occurred again. With the announcement of the final results of its investigation, the North’s Defense Ministry reported that the drone took off from the South Korean border island of Baengnyeong, in the Yellow Sea, at 11.25pm local time (4.25pm in Italy) on October 8, scattering “political motivational garbage” in the sky above the areas between the Foreign Ministry building and the Sungri subway station in Pyongyang at 1.32 a.m., as well as the Defense Ministry building at 1.35 a.m. , on October 9, the official KCNA news agency reported. North Korea released a map to show the drone’s flight path: the results “starkly demonstrated the most brazen and vulgar provocative nature of the ROK’s military gangsters who have consistently evaded responsibility for the illegal intrusion of the drone in the sky above our capital”, commented a spokesperson for the North’s Defense Ministry. North Korea warned that “the source of all misfortunes and provocations will disappear forever from the North’s ruthless offensive” if South Korea once again violates its sovereignty. Seoul’s military said it could not confirm whether the North’s claims about drones were true, warning that Pyongyang would face “the end of its regime” if it caused harm to the South Korean people.
