North Korea, South Korea, US and Japan’s top negotiators reaffirm goal of complete denuclearization of North Korea

    Faced with North Korea’s growing nuclear and missile threats, North Korea’s top nuclear representatives from South Korea, the United States and Japan held face-to-face discussions and discussed measures to deter provocations.

    In particular, they warned that if North Korea conducts further provocations, such as the seventh nuclear test, it will face a firm and united response from the international community, and stressed the solid solidarity between South Korea, the United States and Japan, stating that North Korea should show that nothing can be gained by provocation.

    Director Kim Gunn said in his opening remarks that the international community will never recognize North Korea as a nuclear power and that if (North Korea) had such a hope, it would be nice to wake up and face reality.

    “The international community has firmly adhered to the common goal of denuclearizing North Korea for 30 years and there will be no review for another million years,” he said.

    Meanwhile, the three countries’ top representatives on North Korea’s nuclear issues agreed to encourage North Korea to end its provocations and return to the denuclearization forum, as China’s role is important.
