North Korea seems to continue the party conference schedule on weekends… Conclusion soon

The schedule of the 8th Labor Party Congress in North Korea is likely to continue on the 9th weekend. It is expected that the conclusion of the report on the Central Committee’s business summary report, which had only been made a rough report, will soon be drawn.

The Labor Newspaper, an agency of the Labor Party, briefly delivered the news of the 3rd meeting through a report on the 8th. The newspaper announced that Chairman Kim Jong-un reported on the’inter-Korean issue’,’external relations’, and’strengthening ideological projects’ at the 3rd meeting.

As with the previous meetings on the first and second days, the details of the report were not disclosed. However, all areas such as △socialist economic construction, △the cause of national reunification (inter-Korean relations) △progress in foreign relations △progress in strengthening and developing the party’s business were all covered.

In addition, on the 7th, the newspaper ended with the word “contest continues”, suggesting that the report of the business summary was over, unlike the statement that “business consensus continues” on the 7th. Chairman Kim’s report of’marathon’, which has been continuing for three days since the opening ceremony on the 5th, seems to have ended at the end of the 3rd meeting.

The conference is not over yet. At the 4th meeting the day before (last 8th), it is expected that the decision was adopted following the discussion and conclusion of the report on the business summary.

It is highly probable that the Central Prosecutors Committee’s business consolidation, which was the second agenda of the party conference on the 5th meeting, which is expected to be held on this day, will proceed. North Korea has left as major agendas at this party meeting, including the consolidation of the Central Prosecutors’ Commission, the revision of the Party rules, and the election of the Party’s central leadership.

The point of watching the report on this day is whether to disclose the full report of the business summary. It is difficult to read the current direction of North Korea’s policy as North Korea only briefly conveys the contents of the report and does not disclose specific details.

The details of the business summary can be confirmed through the full report or the conclusion of the party conference. As the full text was released the day after the two-day generalization of the 7th Party Congress, the possibility of a full text coming out through the report on that day cannot be ruled out.

On the other hand, there are also observations that the duration of the event may be longer than expected. It is analyzed that it will take at least 5 to 6 days as a day was spent on the report of the business summary than the 7th Congress, which was held for 4 days and 3 nights.

Experts expect North Korea to close the party convention before the 10th. However, there are some cases in which the party conference was held for nearly 10 days, so there is a prospect that the total period could be extended further depending on the case.
