North Korea relaunched missiles, according to United States | NOW

The government of North Korea launched missiles for the second time in a short time on Thursday, South Korea, Japan and the United States report. According to Seoul, the communist country launched at least two missiles. The projectiles ended up in eastern waters.

A South Korean military chief of staff reported that at least “two unidentified objects” were launched from North Korea’s east coast. It is not yet known what kind of missiles they were. The South Korean Security Council has expressed concerns about the missile launches by their northern neighbors.

Japan said on Thursday that they may have been ballistic missiles. The projectiles did not reach Japanese territorial waters. The Japanese coast guard had previously warned ships not to come close to falling objects.

According to the United States, the launches show that the North Korean missile program is a major threat to the region and the international community. The US says it is monitoring the situation and is in contact with allies.

Second missile launch in a short time

Last weekend, North Korea also fired two short-range missiles, according to South Korea and the United States. It was later revealed that they were cruise missiles, which fall within United Nations rules.

These are the first launches since the inauguration of US President Joe Biden, who has not yet taken a clear position on North Korea.

The United States has previously indicated that it is open to a dialogue with Pyongyang. The communist country has emphatically rejected this and emphasizes that it will only talk when the United States stops military exercises in South Korea, among other things.
