Tension is rising in East Asia. A ballistic missile fired by North Korea on Saturday was apparently an ICBM intercontinental missile that crashed into Japan’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), the Japanese government said – days before a joint simulation exercise between Washington and Seoul. “It seems that the ballistic missile fired by North Korea fell in Japan’s EEZ, west of Hokkaido,” Prime Minister Fumio Kishida told reporters.
