The United States is trying to establish contact with North Korea to discuss the DPRK’s nuclear program.
The Biden administration has been unable to reach Pyongyang through various diplomatic channels since mid-February. On Saturday, March 13, Reuters reported, citing a senior source from the administration of President Joe Biden.
According to the source, the White House has been trying to contact Pyongyang through several diplomatic channels, including in New York, since mid-February. However, the North Korean leadership ignored them.
“To date, we have not received a response from Pyongyang,” said the source.
Pyongyang’s silence adds to concern, including in the light of the upcoming visit next week by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Pentagon Chief Austin Lloyd to South Korea, as well as Japan.
It is known that in the coming weeks, Washington intends to approve the main aspects of interaction with Pyongyang. As the interlocutor of the agency specified, an active dialogue between the United States and North Korea, apparently, has not been conducted for more than a year.
Earlier it was reported that the new US administration, led by President Joe Biden plans to prepare a new strategy against North Korea and pursue a course of containing Pyongyang.
