North Korea hacks Pfizer for vaccine information

While the country ensures that it is not affected by the pandemic, Korean hackers have tried to obtain information on the vaccine from the American giant Pfizer according to the South Korean press agency.

North Korea tried to hack the servers of US drugmaker Pfizer to obtain technological information about the company’s vaccine and coronavirus treatment, according to the South Korean news agency Yonhap.

The National Intelligence Service (NIS) “informed us that North Korea had attempted to obtain technologies including the vaccine and treatments for Covid by means of a cyber attack to hack Pfizer,” told reporters South Korean MP Ha Tae-keung.

According to authorities in Pyongyang, North Korea recorded only one confirmed case of the coronavirus last July. But the most closed country in the world would not be totally spared. According to the WHO, more than 6,000 cases were considered suspicious at the end of last year. The city of Kaesong where the case was listed was placed in a state of maximum emergency and containment was put in place.
