North Korea’s national team has won the U-20 Women’s World Cup for the third time, beating Japan 1-0 at the Nemesio Camacho El Campín stadium in Colombia.
Korea began its World Cup campaign in Group F, where it finished top with nine points after beating countries such as Argentina, Costa Rica and the Netherlands.
In the round of 16, they eliminated Australia with a 5-2 win, and then, in the quarterfinals, they narrowly defeated Brazil.
In the semi-finals they faced the United States, whom they also eliminated by a narrow score, and on this occasion they faced their counterparts from Japan to be crowned world champions in the under-20 category.
