North Korea has denied providing troops to Russia, which could be mobilized in the war in Ukraine, while Pyongyang’s representative at the UN went so far as to call Seoul’s claim a “baseless rumour”.
“Regarding the so-called military cooperation with Russia, my delegation does not feel the need to comment on these stereotypical baseless rumours,” said a North Korean representative during a session of the UN General Assembly.
Rumors of North Korean troop deployments have not been confirmed by NATO and the US, but both have said that if the information is verified it will be a potentially dangerous escalation in the war in Ukraine.

“Seoul’s claims are aimed at tarnishing the image of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and undermining the legitimate, friendly and cooperative relations between two sovereign states,” he added.
On Monday, South Korea’s foreign ministry had summoned him Russian ambassador to Seoul to ask him for the “immediate” withdrawal of the soldiers sent, according to the South Korean government, by Pyongyang to support Moscow in its war against Ukraine, according to the South Korean Foreign Ministry.
