North-eastern Ukraine has been fired at by missiles from Belarus

Early Thursday morning, the northeastern regions of Ukraine were fired with missiles from the territory of Belarus, the General Staff of Ukraine said.


More than 20 rockets were fired from the territory of Belarus on Thursday morning at the Chernihiv and Kyiv regions of Ukraine, and some of the rockets were shot down by the Ukrainian air defense system.

Nine rockets hit the territory of the Hončarove community.

The General Staff has no information on casualties yet.

“On July 28, 2022, from 5:20 to 6:30 a.m., according to Belarusian sources, information was received about the firing of more than 20 rockets from the territory of Belarus,” the operational command “North” announced on the social network “Facebook”.

“Currently, it is known that nine rockets hit the territory of the Honcharov community of the Chernihiv region and landed in a forest massif. Our anti-aircraft defense system also worked,” the statement said.

Vyacheslav Chaus, head of the military administration of Chernihiv region, said that more than a dozen rockets were fired at the territory of the region.

“After 5 o’clock in the morning there was a massive firing of rockets from the territory of Belarus. Provisionally there is information about the hit next to Honcharov. Our air defense system also worked. (..) Information about victims and damage is being clarified,” the governor said on the Telegram messaging platform.
