North Carolina Lobbying Efforts Targeting Anti-Immigrant Legislation

North Carolina, Raleigh Immigrant advocacy groups, coalitions, non-profit organizations and community groups will hold several days of legislative lobbying at the North Carolina General Assembly in Raleigh.

The goal is to pressure senators to vote against a legislative proposal that seeks to force sheriffs in the state to collaborate with ICE.

The HB 10 proposal: «Require sheriffs to cooperate with ICE» passed this afternoon in the state House of Representatives, and forwarded to the Senate.

Immigrant Justice

As Immigrant Justice It was named the day of legislative lobbying, which will be tomorrow, March 29.

The day will begin at the headquarters of the El Pueblo de Raleigh organization from 9:00 am to 10:30 am with a training session. Followed by legislative visits.

The organizations in charge of the lobbying event are:

On the same day, Equally NC will hold a day of lobbying for the rights of the LGBTQ+ community.

Day of Action for Immigrants

For their part, groups of grassroots and non-profit organizations from the eastern region of the state invite them to participate in the Day of Action for Immigrants.

The lobby day will take place on Wednesday, April 5 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm It will take place at the Legislative Building, located at 16 West Jones St, Raleigh, NC, 27601.

We are NC Invitation to Legislative Lobbying Day in North Carolina

The event will kick off with a press conference at 10:30 am outside the Legislative Building in Raleigh.

During this day, 49 Democratic legislators will visit, considered key, to support a tentative veto by Governor Roy Cooper, to the anti-immigrant legislation HB 10 and SB 50, in case they are finally approved.

During the lobbying session, those present will also advocate for all the projects that have an impact, not only on the immigrant community, but also on the LGBTQ+, African-American, women, students and minorities communities in general.
