Mario Sánchez Mata, 29, was arrested for allegedly being related to the death of his brother, Jose Sanchez Mata, 33 years old.
How did the events unfold?
On August 3, 2024, at around 1:00 AM, the Concord Police was called to 2754 Plantation Rd NW after a tip from the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, which reported that Mario Sánchez Mata had confessed to having killed his brother.
A few minutes later, another call was received at Concord 911 from the same residence, reporting that a man had died.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found José Sánchez Mata dead from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.
Latino arrested in North Carolina
Mario Sanchez Mata was transported to Concord by Rowan County Sheriff’s deputies, being charged with second degree murder and for discharging a weapon into occupied property. The man is currently being held in the Cabarrus County Jail on a $1 million bail.
The authorities are investigating the case, as they are considering the possibility that the murder was due to a family dispute.
