The Maple Leaf players, who thrashed host Latvia 6-0 on Friday, edged Slovenia 5-2. They conceded the opener shorthanded after 3’50” against a side that had been crushed 7-0 the day before by Switzerland, turning the situation around by scoring three times in the second period to lead 3- 1.
Team USA for its part won 7-1 against Hungary, after also finding itself quickly led to the score (in the 5th minute). The Americans, winners of the Finnish favorites on Friday in Tampere, were however able to take the advantage from the 19th minute (2-1) before unfolding in the last 2 thirds.
