Singer Normunds Rutulis has released a new song “Sirds” – its author is Māris Ozols. This song is announced as a gift at Christmas, and the publicity photos of both musicians also emphasize the existence of this white holiday, although it is still quite distant.
The author of the music for the song “Sirds” is Māris Ozols, while the lyrics were written by Anita Rezevska. “In this time of turmoil, when public speaking is not feasible, creativity has a double expression. With Mary [Ozolu] we are good friends and have been on the same wave for a long time, and this has been the culmination of many of our joint recordings. I am very glad that Maris encouraged me to cling to his sonorous song, in which he did most of the work himself, recording several instruments. All I had to do was put everything in place. In the instrumental version of the song, the melody is performed by Māra’s harmonica – elegantly! It is a great pleasure that Anita Rezevska’s invitation to write lyrics for the song did not wait even two minutes – she agreed immediately and the next evening the words were ready, moreover, in three languages. For now, the dukes were enough to sing in their homeland, “says Normunds Rutulis.
The author of the song Māris Ozols remembers that its melody originated about a year ago, “when at some free time I sat down at the piano to play something, to sing, and since Normunds is not only my friend, but also a musical companion, I played it for him. “
Rutulis liked the mood of the song, and he suggested that Ozols alone record it instrumentally, but the composer was not really addressed by this idea. “I suggested Normunds write a lyrics for the melody, similar to our previous co-created Christmas songs. Normunds said that he had a better idea, and that’s how we came to a creative meeting with Anita Rezevska, who beautifully and smoothly dressed the melody in the text of fragile feelings. Normunds’ loud voice also tastes great with Anita’s text. We arranged the song together with Normunds – inspired by text and music, we were on the same wave. Normunds deserves praise, who, using his good musical taste and fine hearing, arranged and ensured the sound of the song in the studio, ”says Māris Ozols.
