The successor to the medical director Bernhard Walter has been found: Joint specialist and emergency doctor Norms Schatz from Breisach takes over the office.
Norms Schatz takes over the office of medical director at the Helios Rosmann Klinik Breisach this month. He succeeds the previous medical director Bernhard Walter. The Helios Rosmann Klinik announced on Thursday. The medical director forms the clinic management together with the clinic manager Ottmar Schmidt and nursing director Jana Hegel.
Grew up in BreisachNorm Schatz, who lives and grew up in Breisach, returned to the Breisach Clinic in 2019 as a senior physician in orthopedics and trauma surgery, after having worked in the Lrrach district for 14 years, first as a specialist, then as senior physician and deputy chief physician. As a joint specialist, Schatz is now also the coordinator of the certified endoprosthetics center at the Breisach Clinic. “I am very much looking forward to helping to shape medical care in Breisach and the structures of our clinic as medical director,” said Schatz in the press release.
Goal: to build trust
First-class medical and human care and support for patients, as well as the solidarity of all employees in the clinic, is particularly important to him. “It is also important to me to position the clinic even more as part of the Breisach population in the future and to further expand people’s trust in us,” explains Schatz. Regarding future prospects, it says: “I want to build on what has been tried and tested and prepare the clinic for all challenges. Here I rely on the joint and interdisciplinary cooperation of all departments and professional groups.”
At the very beginning there was a nursing internship in the 90s
He already knew the Helios Rosmann Clinic in Breisach from the 1990s, when he was a nursing intern there, before completing an apprenticeship as a paramedic at the sister clinic in Mllheim. Schatz is now taking over the post of the long-standing medical director Bernhard Walter at the clinic in Breisach. He thus complements the clinic management together with nursing director Jana Hegel and clinic manager Ottmar Schmidt.
According to the press release, the Helios Rosmann Klinik Breisach is gaining an experienced emergency physician and specialist in orthopedics and trauma surgery as medical director with Norms Schatz. “In particular, the close ties with the city of Breisach and the Helios Rosmann Clinic distinguish him,” says clinic manager Schmidt.
Member of the Breisach Volunteer Fire Brigade
In his spare time, Schatz is active in the volunteer fire department. There he was appointed fire brigade doctor for Breisach. The fire brigade is not his only sideline job, Schatz is also a member of the Breisach emergency doctor group and was appointed to one of the chief emergency doctors in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district and the Freiburg urban district in April 2020. Outside of his medical work, he is involved in local politics on a voluntary basis. Two years ago he ran for the CDU Breisach in the local elections.
Dr. Walter offers oncological consultation hours
After seven years, Bernhard Walter is now also relinquishing the position of medical director after welcoming his successor Kezhong Wu as the new chief physician of internal medicine in June of this year. Bernhard Walter had been chief physician of the then newly established internal medicine since 1997 and medical director of the clinic since May 2014. He was significantly involved in the establishment and further development of the main internal department and, according to the announcement, shaped many decisions and changes in the entire clinic. “He will remain with the patient and the clinic until further notice in his function as an oncologist and will oversee the oncological consultation hour once a week,” said Helios Rosmann.
The medical management is part of the clinic management in addition to the clinic management and the nursing management. The incumbent acts as a link between the medical profession, implements current guidelines and recommendations for action and takes care of the medical quality of the clinic.
