“Normandy format” talks in Moscow are taking place without Ukraine / Article

Ukraine is not represented in the talks in Moscow, although it has previously been reported that they will take place in the so-called “Normandy Quartet” format.

Russia was represented at the talks by Dmitry Kozak, Deputy Head of the President’s Administration, France by Emanuel Bons, a diplomat advising the President, and Germany by Jens Pletner, the Chancellor’s Foreign Affairs Adviser.

The meeting lasted more than four hours. Representatives of the three countries have agreed to continue contacts, including with Ukraine.

The talks in Moscow precede next week’s discussions in Geneva between the US and Russian delegations. Ukraine, the United States and the West are concerned that Russia is preparing another large-scale attack on Ukraine.

The German and US foreign ministers, meeting in Washington, have meanwhile announced that the White House and Berlin are united in their support for Ukraine.
