Normal June feels like Life is Strange, but we can defeat some monsters

If you’re looking for a third-person action-adventure game that also tells a fun, sweet, and slightly scary story, then Ordinary June needs to be on your radar. Back at Gamescom, we had the chance to speak with Finji’s CEO, Rebekah Saltsman, about the indie game, which is coming to PC and Mac in 2025.

A typical June begins with a young woman trying to enjoy her summer vacation…with the ability to see ghosts. Suddenly, the ghosts start acting strange, so she works with her friends to solve the mystery of the conspiracy, even if they don’t know about her special powers.

“She sees ghosts. She discovers a secret in the town where she goes to college. She has her friends and they kind of run away,” Saltsman told us.

June and her friends investigate urban legends and end up in “this other place, this other world, where she discovers that she has other abilities because she sees ghosts.”

Action, adventure and puzzles with some ghostly abilities

It is in these areas, in the supernatural world, that she will gain additional abilities, including combat and traversal, which will make a clear distinction between two parts of the game: the quieter exploration part of the real world and action in the ghost world, where we can “defeat some monsters” and solve some puzzles.

However, the tone of the game will be light and fun. “We’re not in stupid territory here. The story has teeth. But the graphics, the gameplay, everything about it is absolutely T-rated.
