“Then he will have two months for the European Commission to issue an opinion on the legality and the fact that the pipeline complies with the Third Energy Package and the Gas Directive, which will take another two months,” the State Department official added.
He stressed that in this way, gas supplies via Nord Stream 2 are not discussed until March. And as soon as this becomes clear, Hochstein clarified, it is necessary to move on to the next stage of negotiations on increasing supplies to Europe for this winter along the existing routes.
