French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian believes that in the event of a further Russian invasion of Ukraine, the issue of stopping the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline should be considered. He also threatened Moscow with strategic consequences.

According to him, after the pulling together of troops to the borders of Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed NATO to discuss the return to the zones of influence that were in the past.
“This would mean that Russia wants to restore the spirit of Yalta,” Le Drian said, referring to a conference between the Allied powers during World War II in February 1945, which gave the USSR control of Eastern European countries.
He also stressed that any further military invasion of Ukraine by Russia would lead to “serious strategic consequences,” and one of the options is to stop the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, which runs along the bottom of the Baltic Sea.
